Kambo is the term used for the waxy secretion of the Giant Monkey tree Frog which comes from the rainforest of the Upper Amazon. Scientifically named Phyllomedusa Bicolor - Phyllo meaning 'leaf' and medusa meaning 'guardian'.
It has been intensively used as a medicine throughout the amazon for thousands of years by indigenous groups such as the Amahuaca, Katukina, Kulina, Yawanawa, Matses, Marubo, Nukini an Mayoruna.
Kambo is traditionally collected by the Indigenous people of the Amazon, who sing the frogs down from the tree tops using imitation calls, and carefully scrape off the secretion onto small sticks and dried ready for use in the treatment process. The frogs are never harmed but treated with the utmost care and respect as to keep a healthy relationship with the animal spirits they live with. Kambo collected in this way is considered 100% ethically harvested.
Outside of the forest, Kambo has been the subject of more than two decades of medical research. As with venoms from snakes and scorpions, researchers believe that Kambo will open up a new world of treatments for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Pain, Cancer, HIV, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, Depression, Vascular problems, Hepatitis, Diabetes, Rheumatism, Arthritis, Addictions and much, much more.
Traditionally, Kambo, also known as Sapo, was used in thre ways. First to cleanse, stregthen and energise the minds and bodies of hunters. This allowed them to eat less, sleep less, run faster for longer with the belief they were invisable to animals, as kambo removes the human scent for a period of time.
Secondly it has been used for aiding recovery of Malaria, fever, infections and snake bites. Thirdly, its is used to clear away dark or negative energy known as ' Panema'. When Panema is cleared, everything becomes easier, allowing the ease of overcoming obstacles, opening up the natural flows of life.
